Ass. Prof.ⁱⁿ Mag.^a art. Katharina Anzengruber, PhD

Katharina Anzengruber is Assistant Professor of Music Education (Mozarteum University) and co-head of the focus area Society & Sustainability | Contemporary Art & Cultural Production (Interuniversitary Organization Arts & Knowledges). Her research focuses on applied teaching and learning research, aesthetic education, inter- and transdisciplinary teaching and learning settings and (music-related) education for sustainable development. She is currently leading the research project Co-CreART. Co-Creating Change!, funded by the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund, which aims to develop interdisciplinary educational formats on climate protection.

Katharina Anzengruber studied music education, instrumental music education, and instrumental/vocal pedagogy (guitar, singing) at the Mozarteum University, as well as German language and literature (teaching degree) at Paris Lodron University in Salzburg. From 2010 to 2022, she taught at the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium Straßwalchen. From 2015 to 2018, she was also a member of the Inter-University Doctoral School The Arts and Their Public Impact: Concepts – Transfer – Resonance and received her doctorate in music education in early 2020 with a dissertation on the teaching of experimental art, with a focus on music, in secondary education. From 2020 to 2022, she worked at Arts & Knowledges as a senior scientist in the Focus Area Contemporary Art and Cultural Production.

In 2018, Katharina Anzengruber was awarded the Music Teacher Award by the Salzburg Education Authority for various projects she had undertaken as part of her work as a music teacher. In the same year, she was awarded the sponsorship prize for children’s and youth projects by the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg for the project KLANGKÖRPER – KÖRPERKLANG (SOUND BODY – BODY SOUND). Katharina Anzengruber is the regional chairwoman of the Austrian Music Education Working Group and a member of the European Association for Music in Schools (EAS).
