Worldmaking Matters

INTERNATIONAL MULTI-DAY SYMPOSIUM ON SUSTAINABLE FASHION, DESIGN AND ARTS

15 December 2025 and 16 – 19 January 2026

W&K-Atelier, KunstQuartier, Inter-University Organization Arts & Knowledges, Salzburg, Austria

In various inputs, formats and workshops, we engage in dialogue and exchange with artists, curators, designers, filmmakers, researchers, and cultural practitioners to reflect upon the complexities of worldmaking processes in view of climate emergency and environmental fractures. Together, we explore modes of decolonial ecologies and ecological reparations through community-based artistic practices that address sustainability and the entanglement of climate, social, racial, and environmental issues.

WORLDMAKING MATTERS. figures as a ground for getting to know practices of designing fabrics and crafting textures to reimagine sustainable futures, and to approach diverse modes and formations of sustainable worlds and forms of knowing that are part of the multilayered process of worldmaking.

The multi-day symposium in December 2025 and January 2026 invites future thoughts and practices, and the sharing of multiple forms of knowledge and artistic practices on sustainability in relation to social relations and the living world.

Everyone is welcome — no preparation needed. Just come and join the conversation.

Free entry to all events of the symposium. Please register for participation prior to the event at: roswitha.gabriel@plus.ac.at
