Sabrina Kern and Mariel Rodríguez share their collaborative working process for the recently inaugurated audio sculpture in public space in Linz, Austria, entitled: “5 to 12. Unheard/Outrageous Resistance”. In 2021, they jointly applied for the competition for woman* artists: for the creation of an artistic work for women* in the resistance against the Nazi regime. The competition took place in two phases, and the concept was awarded the support to be realized. In their input, they will share how they navigated the highs and lows of collaborative work. From the co-authorship to the realization, which was made possible by the collaboration with different specialists, from architects to musicians and historians, and with women from civil society. How did they assemble their team until the completion of the work, three years later.
The focus of the workshop will be on how to approach and write an open call to find members of civil society to participate in an art project. What needs to be considered? Where should the open call be distributed? How will you select participants? How do you involve them in the project?
