Performance Lecture

Ordinary Music. Music Suitable for the Anthropocene

What would a music sound like that would assign the human a place amongst its fellow species, a music, that would articulate and emphasize our social and environmental entangledness rather than lift us up and out of it all? What would a music sound like that reflected our own ordinariness as just one figure amongst many others? Such a music wouldn’t have to include so called environmental sounds or turn to what has been called the non-human. Rather, it would give us a sense of our own ordinariness as humans. We have made an attempt at such a music. This lecture performance will feature an original composition by Leo Feichtinger and Manfred Soraruf embedded in some considerations and provocations.

With Magdalena Bawart, Leo Feichtinger, Anne Kathrin Meyler, Friedlind Riedel, Manfred Soraruf, Luisa Zornemann. Response: Caitríona Ní Dhúill
