Becoming Stickiness & Listening Otherwise

Becoming Stickiness & Listening Otherwise brings together members of the Mai Ling Collective and artist-researcher Zuzana Ernst for an evening of conversation on listening, collective practice, and forms of relating. Through artistic formats ranging from cooking performances and community gatherings to interventions and protest, Mai Ling creates spaces that challenge racist and sexist projections while amplifying multi-layered voices and creating spaces for collective resistance, care, and pleasure. In dialogue with these practices Zuzana Ernst shares perspectives from her artistic research on deep listening as an embodied and political practice that asks how listening shapes relations, attention, and collective practice. Through short inputs and a shared discussion, the evening explores listening as a situated and relational act shaped by power, care, friction, and collective presence.

The event is part of the public lecture series Un/Inviting Gestures: Politics of Welcoming and Withholding in Art and Culture.
