Sweet Spot. Lounge für elektroakustische Musik: J1407b. Raphaël Languillat im Porträt

J1407b is an ever-growing live set for modular synthesizer — inspired by a planet of the same name in the constellation Centaurus & characterized by a massive ring system consisting of over 30 rings, each of them tens of millions of kilometers in diameter.
Overwhelming drones, granular soundscapes & recordings of NASA’s Cassini spacecraft gradually morph, dissolve and re-emerge in ever-changing states. J1407b offers an immersive experience, mirroring the continuous accumulation processes within this celestial system, where colossal rings made of rocks, dust and/or void coexist.
With each new performance, the live set evolves — its sonic universe expanding as new (musical) material is woven in.

Raphaël Languillat is a French composer, electronic artist & curator working primarily with modular synthesizers & amplified acoustic instruments. Considering each project as a fluid, evolving entity, Raphaël approaches genres with an open mind — moving freely between noise, drone, ambient or pop music & invariably shaped by a futuristic aesthetic.
His live sets & compositions are distinguished by their strong physical & psychological impact, and — with their extended temporal structures — are based on the concept of flow. Using space as a compositional element, he creates immersive settings with multichannel sound systems that transform both the experience of the architecture & the audience.
Since 2023, he is co-curator of the concert series Naxos Hallenkonzerte in Frankfurt/Main.

Moderation: Marco Döttlinger

The SWEET SPOT series is a forum for classical and brand new productions of electroacoustic music in Salzburg. Pieces from the genre are listened to and discussed together. Each concert is accompanied by a short introduction and an opportunity to exchange views on what has been heard.
