Sweet Spot. Lounge für elektroakustische Musik: DRONE DAY SALZBURG

Welcome to Drone Day;
Feel free to walk around, close your eyes, enter and leave the room, experience it as you please. This performance extends over several hours, creating an immersive atmosphere, mostly consisting of long sustained sounds, chords and soundscapes that slowly morph over time.

What is drone music?
Drone music is a genre that emphasises the use of sustained sounds, notes, or tone clusters called drones. It is typically characterised by lengthy compositions featuring relatively slight harmonic variations. Drone Day grows from collective improvisation using DIY synths, guitars, and self-coded digital instruments, with Drone Music being the binding element. Sound is dense yet subtle, hovering at the edge of movement and stasis. Minimal gestures and patient layering dissolve individual authorship into shared flow — less genre, more discipline of attention. It invites audiences into a temporary community of listening — not through participation, but presence — dissolving performer/audience hierarchies. Time slows; perception expands. The performance exists between concert and installation — intimate yet expansive.

Die Reihe SWEET SPOT versteht sich als Forum klassischer und ganz neuer Produktionen Elektroakustischer Musik in Salzburg. Es werden Stücke des Genres gehört und miteinander diskutiert. Begleitet wird jedes Konzert mit einer kurzen Einführung und der Möglichkeit, sich über das Gehörte auszutauschen.
