Sole proprietorship artist

In addition to the actual artistic work, many non-artistic activities characterise the everyday working life of self-employed artists: Acquiring commissions and funding, bookkeeping, marketing and more. What is needed is good self-management, flexibility, a certain resilience and stamina in difficult times. For example, the actress and theatre-maker Dorit Ehlers stated on the occasion of the Corona pandemic: “Everything that now equips me well for the crisis situation is everyday life for me: reacting to current circumstances, always anew. Never knowing what’s coming, accepting the constant risk of idle time … trained for years.” In the event, she gives an insight into her professional life and the way she got there. What does everyday life look like and how can it be organised? What are the positive sides and where are the special challenges? Following her talk, we invite you to an open discussion.
