The Supergau Festival is a biennial art festival that has been taking place in different regions of Salzburg since 2021 and exclusively utilises public space. This year it will take place from 23 May to 1 June in Pinzgau. Under the theme ‘A thousand square kilometres of open space’, artists will transform various landscapes such as forests, meadows, mountains, lakes, houses, but also asphalt and concrete into stages for artistic installations and performances. Art interacts directly with the environment, poses challenging questions and develops new perspectives on nature and landscape.
In the online event, two artists will provide insights into the works they have developed for the Supergau: Veronika Glatzner, part of the collective „TEMPORA – Verein für vorübergehende Kunst“, presents the project „DIE ANHÖRUNG / naturalis_persona. Pinzgauer Naturtribunal“ in which the nature of the Pinzgau region appears before a tribunal as a legal entity and demands its right to species protection and survival. Lola Göller reports on various works in public space, including the Supergau project „Happy Hour in der Disco Coupé: KaraokeCarParkCocktail“, which transforms a seemingly deserted car park into a disco setting.
