Fragments of Collective Curatorial Practice

In this workshop, Djamila Grandits, Marie-Christine Hartig and Doris Posch give insights into fragments of their collective curatorial work. As co-founders and curators of the Vienna-based CineCollective, their transdisciplinary and transmedia practice builds upon negotiating the medium film in various settings such as in public space, cinema and art spaces, that is always connected to a socio-political engagement and aims at creating inclusive spaces of experiencing and resonating with artistic encounters in their multilayeredness.

Together with the workshop participants, CineCollective engages in several forms of working together and collective practices. Based on the medium film, in connection with further artforms such as writing, performing arts, sound installation, various formats of discourse and conversation, we explore the transdisciplinary potential that arises in the curatorial engagement with and through collective practice. We reflect upon various connecting points, aspects, and methods to creatively navigate the foundations, potentials, challenges and dissonances of collective curatorial work. Rather than foregrounding a result-based outcome, we focus on the complexities and beauties that lie in the processes of creative collective practice.
