Ewa Meister:
Both curatorial and club cultural spaces produce knowledge, shape communities, and test strategies for being together — yet both are equally marked by mechanisms of power that determine who belongs and who does not. This talk departs from the tension between the subversive and progressive potential often ascribed to these fields and the structures of exclusion they simultaneously reproduce. Drawing on theoretical research and curatorial practice, it explores how the two fields might inform each other in the search for inviting conditions of encounter.
Maja Simišić:
“Everyone’s Welcome(Terms Apply)” reflects Maja Simišić’s interest in the contradictions hidden within the language of inclusion. Drawing from her experience between Balkan and Western cultural contexts, she examines how ideas of openness and belonging are often shaped by unspoken social expectations around gender, class, and identity. Through humour, satire, and subtle absurdity, her work reveals the invisible “terms” behind being welcomed—and asks who truly gets to belong.
The lectures will be held in English.
