From 2019-2024, three focus areas at Science & Arts worked from different artistic and scientific perspectives on the framework theme of Art and Public Impact: Dynamics of Change:
(Inter)Mediation. Music – Mediation – Context
und Contemporary Arts and Cultural Production
The work of the focus areas comprised three interlinked pillars: (1) fundamental inter- and transdisciplinary research as well as scholarly work that contributes to the development of the arts. The research perspectives and methods used include both artistic research and research on and with the arts. (2) An extensive range of courses offers students from both universities a well-founded additional education for positions in the arts and cultural sector. The ‘Interuniversity Doctoral Program’ also enables students to complete a doctorate at the interface of science and art. (3) Finally, a third pillar is the organization of public events and outreach programs that appeal not only to a specialist audience but also to a broad interested public in the city and province of Salzburg and beyond.
Hinzu kamen Qualifizierungsprojekte, wie sie etwa am Doktoratskolleg Die Künste und ihre öffentliche Wirkung: Dynamiken des Wandels entstanden. Im Doktoratskolleg arbeiteten sechs Stipendiat*innen aus unterschiedlichen Kunst- und Wissenskulturen und Disziplinen (Theaterwissenschaft, Soziologie, Musik- und Kunstvermittlung, Regie, Kuratieren, Gesellschaftswissenschaften, Community Arts) an ihren transdisziplinär angelegten Dissertationen.
