Klima und Gesellschaft Salzburgs im Wandel. Perspektiven und Risiken im Fokus

At this event, Peter Waltl from the Federal Environment Agency will speak about current developments in climate change in Salzburg. Climate change impacts that have already been observed or are expected in the future will be highlighted and possible or necessary actions for adapting to them will be derived. The goals and the status quo as well as opportunities and obstacles on the politically desired path to a climate-neutral and energy-autonomous future for Salzburg will also be explained and discussed.
Stefan Wally from the Robert Jungk Library for Future Studies will provide insights into the “Salzburg Tomorrow” project. In this project, the most important developments up to 2040 were traced and set in relation to each other. This resulted in various scenarios as to the direction Salzburg could take by 2040. Each of these futures has a different background for our areas of life – such as art and culture.

Peter Waltl is Senior Expert for Climate Change Adaptation and Climate Resilience at the Umweltbundesamt GmbH, where he is primarily involved in the development and monitoring of climate change adaptation strategies from the local to the national level.
