As one public outcome of the “Time, Art, Community” course, students decided to join the “Social Garden” event organised by Meet in Salzburg on the shores of the Salzachsee. The students’ devised station, that ran parallel to the knitting and sketching stations, invited people to respond questions like:

– When did you experience time passing differently (slower, faster)?

– How does time influence the communities that you belong to? Do you have a common schedule, a common vision of future?

– What do you think (or know), what was here before the lake, before humans?

Other activities included a collectively edited playlist, reading aloud from topic related books and writing letters to ourselves in the future.

In the beginning of the year, the students together with Kinga Szemessy, who teaches the course, agreed to think of time as a technology or belief that informs and/or organises the life of a community, where a community is a group of shared values, practices or obligations.
